A velvet dress! Boy, that dates me, doesn’t it?
This photo was taken at my Confirmation ceremony (Lutheran, ELCA) back when I was 15 years old.
At this time, I was probably teetering between 180-185 lbs and wearing between a size 18 and a size 20.
I was my heaviest between the ages of 15-17, reaching my max of 214 pounds at the end of my junior year of high school.
I hang on to these photos to remind myself of how far I’ve come and the never-ending journey I am on to be healthy, fit, and happy.
Bon appetit, my friends!

Good for you! A remarkable transformation and you are to be congratulated. I hope you lost sensibly with good nutrition and exercise, blessings
Always Beautiful!!
That’s amazing, how long did it take you to lose the excess weight? Did you change your diet, exercise or both?
I did both! Exercise and 80/20 diet (healthy most of the time, but allowed cheats now and then) and the weight slowly came off. I lost about 20 lbs senior year and then another 10 pounds my first year in college. Since then, I’ve dropped about 5 pounds per year. I’ve held steady at 128-130 for the past year or so.
It really sounds like you lost weight in a healthy way. Good job! It’s not easy, I was also pretty podgy as a teenager and overcoming bad habits was challenging. But it’s worth it because after you feel so good and comfortable in your own body.
