Holy Moly!

OK, I know this is dehydration from my intense workout this morning, but I weighed in at 124.6! Holy moly!

That is 2.2 lbs down from yesterday.

This means I am down a full 11 pounds since January 5, which is when I started my intensive diet and exercise routine. To say I am over the moon excited would be an understatement!

I promise myself not to be disappointed if the scale goes up slightly tomorrow as I have been chugging water like it is my job since getting home from the gym. Even a slight gain is still a loss for the week.

On that note: bon appetit!!

Weigh-in Wednesday!

It looks my vacation from work -and my nearly three hour morning gym sessions- are really helping with my weight loss!

Today’s weigh-in: 126.8!!

That means I’ve dropped 9 lbs since January 5th, which is:

1) Slightly insane,
and
2) Too much, too fast.

I know this won’t be sustainable, as I won’t be able to commit to 2-3+ hours of exercise once I head back to work on Sunday. I guess I might as well take advantage of it now, as my weight loss will slow to a crawl once my normal exercise pattern sets in.

But that’s OK. Slow and steady wins the race. Or, in the case of overall health, moderation and consistency keep bad weight off and good muscle on!

Will post my accountability report this evening after class!

In the meantime …bon appetit, my friends!

Monday Update and Accountability!

So …hopped on the scale this morning to discover a pleasant surprise:

128.2!!

That means I went down -gasp- seven pounds last week!

Granted, I know the vast majority of it was water weight, but it still makes me feel good. Plus, it doesn’t hurt my motivation to stick with it this week!

I ate a little more than planned, but that’s because we had a family dinner and I hate to eat restaurant food. I made the healthiest choice possible (grilled salmon salad, no dressing), but it still adds up.

Here’s my daily summary:

2015/01/img_8764-0.png

I’m off of work this week (it’s my first week back in school, so I took the week off to get ahead), and with that extra time I want to hit the gym hardcore every day.

Wish me luck!

Bon appetit, my friends!

Tiny Breakthrough!

OK, I know I promised myself I wouldn’t weigh-in daily (trying to do just Monday/Wednesday/Friday), but I woke up this morning and felt smaller. I’m not sure if it was the ridiculous cardio yesterday or the fact that I couldn’t stop going potty (seriously, I felt like I was going to dry up like a prune, but it never ended), but I just knew the scale would be good to me, so I did it.

Today’s weight?

131.2!

That’s down 4 lbs since Monday morning (135.2), and much closer to where I expected to be after my trip to New York.

I’ve set a “soft” goal (translation: won’t beat myself up if I miss it) of being back under 127 by January 31st, and back under 125 by February 28th. I think this is very moderate and achievable, especially given my rate of exercise.

My long term goal is under 118 (please keep in mind I’m only 5’2″, so this is a very healthy weight for my size), but I don’t anticipate hitting that until closer to the summer.

So …today’s off to a great start with a positive weigh-in! I’ve packed only healthy foods (homemade fruit salad, non-fat Greek yogurt, a big salad with salmon, and carrots with hummus for a snack), so temptations won’t be an issue. All in all, it’s under 800 calories for the whole day, and that means I get to have a fun dinner (and a glass of wine)!

Bon appetit, my friends!

Weigh-in Wednesday!

Despite yesterday’s caloric debauchery, today’s weigh-in was positive! Yay!

Here’s the breakdown of the morning report:

Weight: 125.4

Waist: 26″ even

Hips: 35″ (up slightly?)

Right Thigh: 21.25″

Left Thigh: 21″

Right Bicep: 9.75″

Left Bicep: 10″

The scale and waist measurements are down, and the rest have remained the same or only slightly increasing. Not exactly sure how my hips got wider (second puberty?), but I’m not stressing it.

Not bad considering I just started on Monday the 19th! I’m down almost 7 pounds in 10 days. A little fast, but I’m not doing anything extreme or obsessive, so I’m happy with my results!

Bon appetit, my friends!

Weigh-In Wednesday!

OK, with 52 days left until my 30th birthday and the clock counting down, here’s my very first weigh-in/measurement on my DIRTY THIRTY CRUNCH plan:

Weight: 129.6 (down from Monday’s 130.2)

Right Thigh: 21″

Left Thigh: 20.5″

Right Arm: 9.75″

Left Arm: 10.25″

Waist: 26.75″

Hips: 34.5″

I’m not sure what my ideal measurements are at this time (perhaps measuring my arms is pointless, but it seemed important), but I do know I want to be solidly in a size two by my 30th birthday. And under 119 pounds. I’m 5’3″, so that’s a HEALTHY number and very attainable.

52 days to go.

Wish me luck!

Bon appetit, my friends!

Weigh-In Wednesday

I skipped this last week (out of shame).

I really, really wanted to skip this week (out of greater shame) but I’m doing it anyhow.

Today’s weight: 136.0.

I’ve been on a steady incline, fluctuating between 133-136 for the past two weeks. My all-time low was 129.8 on November 22nd and I haven’t been able to get back to that sub-130 milestone since.

Perhaps if I could stop eating junk food, I could make it happen. Perhaps if I went to the gym more than three times a week, I could make it happen.

Waist: 27.75″

I’ve got a bit of a muffin top going in my size 4 jeans. They fit perfectly in November, they are snug in December. Let’s hope I don’t burst out of them in January.

I didn’t measure my thighs, mainly because I didn’t trust myself to not freak out. I can see that they’re wider, thicker, jelly.

I just need to make it through December.

I will regain control in 2014. Until then, I just need to survive.

Wednesday Weigh-in, Week Two (A Day Late!)

Whooooops!

Even though I remembered to take a photo and weigh myself yesterday, I absolutely forgot to post my details. Wow, only two weeks into this new habit and I’m already missing due dates. Ha!

I blame the holidays. I spent the day with my family only to come home to house guests, so it was a hectic (but fun) day!

I'm trying to wear the same outfit for every weigh-in photo so you can see the small nuances and changes to my body.

I’m trying to wear the same outfit for every weigh-in photo so you can see the small nuances and changes to my body.

Weight: 134.0

(This actually upsets me, as I had gone down to 129.8 on Friday of last week, but I had a feeling that was due to dehydration… oh well.)

Waist/Thighs: unknown.

(My husband misplaced my measuring tape.)

I’m concerned that I’m going to take a major step back with today’s Thanksgiving eating, so I’m planning to go for a long run and get a workout in before I gorge on all of the good stuff. Hopefully I can make it to next week’s weigh-in without too much damage!

On that note, friends, it’s time to gobble ’til you wobble!

Bon appetit, my friends!

Weigh-In Wednesday: Week One

OK. Here goes.

Absolute transparency in the hopes it keeps me accountable.

weigh in 11.20.2013

Physical Concerns:

  • Stomach: it’s always the first area of my body to show my lack of regimen. If I gain an ounce, it shows up on my stomach.
  • Thighs: specifically, my left thigh, which is chubbier than my right. This picture accentuates it.
  • Upper Arms: no matter how many push-ups I do, I can’t seem to get my biceps lean and toned.

Today’s Weight: 135.0 (yup, it’s up)

Waist: 28.5″ (taken at the belly button)

Left Thigh: 21.75″

Right Thigh: 22″

I figured I should outline my goals here, since I’m going to post this weekly.

Goals:

  • Weight: 120-125
  • Waist: 26″ (or less)
  • Left Thigh: 19.5″
  • Right Thigh: 19.5″

Whew. This was harder than I expected it to be. It’s one thing to post my weight, another to post a picture – posting my weight, picture, and measurements all in one transparent parade is rather confounding. Fortunately, knowing that I have to do this again next week already has me thinking about the steps that I can take to make sure I’m healthy this weekend (so I show positive results next week).

Wish me luck!

Bon appetit, my friends!

A New Feature to the Blog: Weigh-In Wednesdays

As I mentioned this weekend, I’ve really been bad lately with my diet and, as a result, my weight is up. I went from 130.6 just three weeks ago to a whopping 138 on Sunday morning when I stumbled onto the scale (after a weekend of gorging and excess). Since Halloween, I’ve really been letting myself just eat whatever I want (while still exercising 4-5 days per week) and I’ve learned that I just can’t get away with that with my body.

Unlike the rest of the world, I cannot exercise and eat what I want.

I will gain weight. FAST.

It’s unfair, but it’s the body I was given. I have to make the best of it. Awareness is the answer.

As part of an effort to hold myself more accountable, I’m going to publicly post my stats every Wednesday as well as a new (quasi-revealing) picture to show the progression of my body.

Starting tonight, I will post the following every Wednesday:

  • My weight (as taken in the morning)
  • My waist circumference
  • Left & right thigh circumference
  • A full body photo (shorts/sports bra)

I’ve been very regimented this week so far – a big thanks to MyFitnessPal & GymPact for keeping me honest with myself – and I went into the week with far more meal-planning than I had previously, so I’ve managed to keep my food intake in check and the scale is slowly creeping down.

Tonight, after work, I’ll be posting my first “Weigh-In Wednesday” and I hope that all of you can help to keep me encouraged, motivated, and accountable to my goals.

On that note, please watch for a post later this evening and, as always, bon appetit!
